Spring has sprung at Grow Community, and our second and third neighborhoods are bursting forth.
First, at the Grove: Our last unit (D103) in the Tsuga is a very cool home, is now on the market, and move-in ready. With only five homes left in this building, the time to visit is now! Outside we’re doing some landscaping touchup and tree replacement – after one of our more memorable (read: cold and wet) winters, our plants are taking a bit more time to bud, but they’ll get there soon.
Next door at the Park: The Lilac Townhomes are in the finishing stage with prep for move-in now underway. All major work items are complete, with only cosmetic work left before the final clean. We’ve filed with the City of Bainbridge Island for occupancy, and we should see our first residents here by May!
The Sage remains on schedule for a summer completion. Elevator work, drywall and exterior siding installation are in process, while finish work on the inside (including cabinets) is expected to begin at the end of April. Landscaping throughout the Park will continue through summer.
Linking them all is the Community Center, where framing should be completed this month; roofing and windows will follow soon. You’ll see more activity around the center with the addition of new walks, planters and landscaping. We hope to host an event in this great new space (even during construction) to celebrate its importance as a new hub for our community – watch for an announcement in May!

The Grove – looking at the Salal and Juniper buildings
PSE celebrates Grow’s energy efficiency program
/in Building The Future, Carbon Free, Energy, Grow News, News, News at Grow, The Homes /by Grow TeamPuget Sound Energy visited Grow Community recently to celebrate the success of our Energy Efficiency program for Multifamily buildings.
Our development team and PHC Construction welcomed PSE officials for the occasion, to fete an effort that has been ongoing for several years.
Incentives from the PSE program helped offset costs for the heat pump hot water heating systems within the Salal, Juniper and Tsuga buildings.
Coupled with rooftop solar production, the program has greatly reduced energy costs in these multifamily buildings. Owners benefit additionally from solar power net-metering and production incentives.
We hope to repeat the program with other multifamily buildings now underway in Grow’s third neighborhood, the Park.
“It was a great morning visit, and an overdue tour for the PSE team that has been working with us to help Grow’s goals of energy efficiency,” said Greg Lotakis, project manager. “PSE has been a great partner.”
Grow Community’s multifamily solar program was chronicled recently at Solar Power World Online. Read the story here.
Winter marches on, so too the final touches on Grow Community phase 2, the Grove
/in Construction Updates, Grow News, News, News at Grow, The Homes /by Grow TeamFinishing crews are now wrapping up the Tsuga’s “tall skinny” unit with its unique three-floor layout, while two recent sales elsewhere in the building mean we’ll be welcoming some more new residents to the community soon.
Meanwhile in the final phase of Grow, the Park:
The Lilac townhomes are coming along apace, with the completion date and move-ins beginning this spring. These fine 2 and 3-bedroom townhomes are now for sale.
Just across the grounds, work on the Sage is in full swing, with the roof nearing completion and finish crews going to town inside.
Permitting for the Trillium and Meadow Homes at the south end of the Park is still in process, but we are already prepping for work by removing excess dirt from the site. Progress on the Community Center (currently an expansive concrete slab) will resume once the framing crew is available.
And out in the Park grounds, site paths and concrete work continue as we begin knitting together “greater Grow”– the Village and Grove neighborhoods will soon be linked with the front of the Lilac by convenient pedestrian paths.
With the dark days of winter still upon us, can spring be far behind?
No! And that means you’ll soon see more landscaping work in both neighborhoods, as we do a final tidy-up of the Grove and work our way through the Park toward Shepard Way.
the Tsuga – 2 bedroom units for sale – MOVE IN TODAY
/in Grow News, News, News at Grow, The Homes /by Grow TeamThe first neighborhood in Grow Community phase 2 is called the Grove, so it’s apropos that one of its signature buildings draws its name from the Northwest forest. The Tsuga (pronounced SOO-guh) is named for a familiar group of conifers from the pine family — your friendly neighborhood Western hemlock. These grand, fragrant giants are so central to our local environs, we even honor Tsuga heterophylla as our Washington state tree.
We had the quiet nobility of this splendid specimen in mind as we designed the Tsuga. Five beautiful 2-bedroom homes have just come online in this bright and airy building, offering single-level living with spacious decks overlooking the beautiful green space of the Grove. Enjoy 1,200 square feet of comfortable, ultra-energy-efficient living space and fine appointments.
Now available to tour: One of our most striking residences, a unique three-story layout, with a spacious outdoor deck on every level and a more-than-generous area for a home theater, workout room or den.
