Jonathan Davis Speaks at ‘Green Homes Event’

The Bainbridge Library and Housing Resources Board Community Land Trust are sponsoring a “Home at the Library” speakers series that explores how diverse housing builds community. This month: Green, Energy Efficient Homes, a conversation about building the future with intention. The smartest investment in our community may be the energy saving elements we use in our homes. Don’t miss this event for a conversation that will explore cutting edge energy and green practices in residential construction such as zero gain and passive home building. Our Grow Community Architect, Jonathan Davis of Davis Studio Architecture and Design will be one of three speakers.

Pumpkin Carving with Peacock Pre-schoolers

Fall is upon us. In celebration of the season children from our wonderful neighborhood daycare, Peacock Family Center, will be joining the Grow Team to carve pumpkins. Come by the model homes later in the week to view their creations, and stop by for some trick-or-treating fun on Halloween!

Solar Washington – 2012 National Solar Tour

October 6th 2012, 10am – 4pm
Come visit us at Grow on Saturday, October 6th as our homes will be one of the stops on the 2012 National Solar Tour. You will meet our team, tour our homes, learn more about why we pursued Net Zero Homes through solar, and learn more about our partners.
A special thanks to Puget Sound Energy who will also be joining us to better help you understand how Net Metering works, production incentive programs, and other ways you can make your home more energy efficient. The tour hours are from 10am to 4pm.
Swing by the farmer’s market, tour the community solar project on City Hall, and then take a very short walk up to Grow Community to visit our work including three net zero energy homes, a solar powered welcome center, and our electric vehicle charging station for our community nissan leaf!

Washington Environmental Council Event at Grow

Grow Community will be hosting the Washington Environmental Council (WEC) on Tuesday evening, October 2nd. Our architect, Jonathan Davis, will be speaking along with support from Project Manager, Greg Lotakis. This event is intended to educate, inform and showcase the efforts of Grow Community and WEC in advancing clean water & green infrastructure solutions. The evening will consist of a home tour, presentation from the Grow team and updates on the work of WEC. Light refreshments will be provided.

Grow Welcome Garden Harvest

October 1st 2012, Noon

Scott McGowan of Home Grown Organics and our One Planet Champion for Local and Sustainable Food will be leading the 3rd Grade Class from the Madrona School in harvesting our garden. The effort is part of an educational program in local and organic foods. The kids will harvest, learn to cook with some of the vegetables, and provide some to the food kitchen at Helpline House on Bainbridge.
